Job Summary

Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters (CHKD) has a 70 bed NICU, covered by 3 clinical RDs. These RDs work closely with the neonatologists, residents, nurse practitoners and nursing staff to collaborate on plans of care. The RDs provide evidence based nutrition therapy recommendations for enteral and parenteral nutrition as well as providing appropriate formula and breast milk feeding recommendations. The NICU RDs work on closely alongside the milk lab staff to ensure feeds are made appropriately and timely. CHKD has a team of 12 RDs and still growing!

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides nutrition services in identified specialty area for a minimum of 70% of workload/responsibilities. Specialty areas include NICU, bariatric, renal, cardiac, diabetes, nutrition support, pediatrics, oncology, transplant, geriatrics, and outpatient services. Assesses the nutritional status of patients/ residents through documentation in the medical record
• Trains and mentor's patient services staff and interns as applicable
• Fosters teamwork and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes
• Complies with regulatory standards, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient/resident rights policies
• Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs

Qualifications:

• Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
• Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing Board, in states where required
• Two (2) years of experience in area of specialty required
• Specialty certification when applicable
• Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming
