The strategy of Compound is to draw visitors to the center by a) creating a popular venue for the exhibition of experiential contemporary art, b) presenting permanent and rotating exhibitions and experimental incubators for local and international artists, c) offering exceptionally engaging public programs and events and d) an open and affirming place promoting connection, belonging, curiosity, and healing.
The Event Sales Manager is our brand ambassador for our facility within the community. This role is essential in the cultivation of prospective client relationships, generating revenue and working with outside event sales consultants within the non-profit and for profit entities from an Events and large party perspective, being present in the Events to assist with execution, being active members of the hospitality and event planning industries, and the pursuit of new market opportunities to increase Event sales.
- The Event Sales Manager is a brand ambassador for the facility and the event sales expert focused on generating revenue through private and corporate event sales, creating an unforgettable experience while maintaining quality food, service and financial success.
- Creating, growing and maintaining target list of corporate and brand business partners, and conduct weekly prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communication
- Responsible for the sales process from client lead to actualization.
- Responsible for detailing each event and distributing timely communication to the store's management team, and event management from end to end.
- Represent Compound in the local community and surrounding areas of Los Angeles and Orange County by participating in local committees, meeting/event planner associations, networking events, etc.
- Collaborate with Event Sales Consultant(s) bringing in leads and bookings, facilitate and support communication and coordination between Consultant and their Clients with the venue to ensure a smooth and successful experience.
- Collaborate with the on site team for event needs, staffing, facilities requirements, to ensure staff is set up for success in fulfilling Client needs and expectations.
- Assist with the monthly forecasting and the annual budget process.
- Ensure billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the clients prior to processing the final bill
- Facilitate weekly sales calls/performance updates inclusive of Event Sales Consultant reporting.
- Actively collaborate with the Marketing and F&B teams on both internal and external materials and/promotions to keep our sales deck up to date.
- Be knowledgeable on the competitive set to identify trends within the market and pricing.
- At least 4 years prior experience in the hospitality industry (restaurant, hotel, events, etc.).
- Flexible schedule is required, weekends and nights are expected when events are in house.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and persuasion skills, with the ability to present effectively internally and externally from board level to peers and subordinates as well as patrons, community business, and government leaders.
- Ability to share information easily, to listen as well as offer advice; respects the abilities of others and has a high level of emotional intelligence and political awareness.
- Capable of utilizing both strategic and hands-on problem solving and implementation skill.
- Demonstrates a hospitality mindset and ethos; skillful with patience and tact, able to exhibit and appreciate humor.
- Consistent drive and ability to take ideas from vision to implementation.
- Strong time-management skills with an ability to be well organized and deadline-oriented; exceptional attention to detail and follow-through; able to work both in unstructured and planned environments, and in situations where rapid response and instant decision-making are required.
- Desirable -- knowledge equivalent to that acquired through hands-on experience in organizations that distribute tickets directly and through third parties, via the web or through alliance partners.
- Bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent in knowledge and experience) with three or more years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, hospitality, public relations, arts education or a related field.
- Experience with the process of client lead to actualization, event production, and working with F&B teams.
- Desirable -- experience in a hospitality organization, cultural institution and/or a startup entity.
This event sales manager position is salary and commission based depending on experience. Salary range is between $70,000-$80,000 commensurate with experience.
