Travel: Some travel required < 20%
Certifications: SHould be able to obtain IAT I: CompTIA A CE or Network CE
Job Description:
- Primary Responsibility: Support the Cable Plant by creating various cables to include CAT5, CAT6, and Fiber. Install patch cables and terminating jacks at DeCA HQ, Ft Lee, Va and other DeCA locations. Experience with CAT 3/5 and fiber optic cable troubleshooting, installation, fabrication, splicing, termination, and certification. Perform all aspects of job associated with fiber network media, patch panels, cabinets, UTP cabling, crossover cabling, backbone, and horizontal cabling. Install preconfigured switches and routers as needed.
- Candidate must have good people skills and be able to communicate effectively. Meets deadlines, problem solves and can work with minimal supervision. Candidate will work with various groups providing cabling requirements for new installs, changes, troubleshooting and repair. Experience updating drawings and documentation and respond to service desk calls.
- Monitor and ensure Remedy ticket handling Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met and monitor SLA metrics for trending and customer service improvement purposes. This requires many administrative IT support duties, to track and maintain records all reported incidents. Serve as the DeCA representative at meetings with key representatives during building or install process to ensure that all cabling is installed correctly. Conduct telecommunications surveys, in the planning and implementing specific assignments that comprise part of an overall telecommunications system plan and the installation of new systems or services.
- Perform various personnel and telephone Moves, Adds, and Changes. Troubleshoot phone outages and voicemail troubles. Track telephone voicemail accounts and equipment problems for all users.
Required Skills:
- IAT1 8570 Certification at time of hire and maintained
- Must be able to Pass a Background Investigation
- Must Have previous Field Experience with Cabling and equipment installation
- Relevant industry accepted certifications highly desired
- Minimum of four years of related field, preferably in a DoD related environment.
- Cisco CM experience plus.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, with minimum of two years of experience or related field or four year of DoD related experience
