CAI is seeking a Sr. Oracle DBA/Metering SME. This is a long term contract opportunity. Our client prefers onsite but will consider remote for the right candidate. Our client is based in Allentown, PA.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure health and stability of the Landis Gyr Meter Data Management System (MDMS), Command Center, and other metering systems
- Respond to system abends according to defined SLAs and restore service within required timeframes
- Respond and resolve incidents requiring immediate action during on-call pager rotations (24x7 operations)
- Evaluate requests for data repairs and/or other metering data requests
- Develop, unit test, and deploy data repairs against the MDMS and other Metering systems
- Facilitate user acceptance testing with the metering business community
- Review and test product upgrades and hotfixes in lower environments
- Support promotion of product upgrades and hotfixes in production
- Support monthly server security patching and other infrastructure related objectives that affect the metering applications
- Work with Metering Operations, Customer Care, and other business lines
- Ensure runbooks and other system documentation are kept current and accurate
- Function as the main L2 support contact and communicate with Landis Gyr on L3 escalations as necessary
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Experience working in a 24x7 operational support rotation
- Solid experience in operational support of Landis Gyr Command Center and Core Meter Data Management System (MDMS) products
- Strong understanding of the data model / data structure on core MDMS products
- Solid understanding of application ecosystems (i.e. infrastructure components where the application interacts)
- Strong experience (5 years) with Oracle v10-19 (PL/SQL)
- Strong experience (5 years) working with Korn Shell scripting
- Strong experience (5 years) working on Linux / Unix operating systems
- Solid experience with FTP tools such as FileZilla
Desired Education and Experience:
- Solid understanding of the meter-to-cash process
- Service oriented architecture (WebMethods or other)
- Experience working with job scheduling and batch automation tools such as Automic
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communications
- Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude
- Focused on customer service and the ability to interact with all lines of business at PPL
- Ability to analyze and resolve issues with production applications in accordance with engagement SLAs
- Produce output that meets acceptable standards for quality, accuracy, and thoroughness
- Willingness to support some older legacy code to keep application running in changing environments
Physical Demands
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor.
