What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planner position at Computype Inc?
Primary Objective of Position
Contribute to projects to design new parts for the most efficient manufacturing process’ and repeatable costing. Ensure that methods of manufacturing (bills of operations and materials) are accurate and effectively represent the manufacturing flow. Act as liaison with the Engineering and CET department to gather required information for new projects and continued process improvement.
Major Areas of Accountability
- New Part/Project Requests (NPRs):
- Review new project information (NPRF, quote configurator) for feasibility of manufacturing. Determine alternate methods of manufacturing when appropriate.
- Epicor part and method of manufacturing creation; CAD creation.
- Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) – facilitating and/or completing requests to change documentation or processes related to purchased or manufactured parts/products under the control of the Planning department.
- Miscellaneous Planning Requests (MPRs) – completion of miscellaneous requests that fall outside both the NPR and ECO processes.
- Manufacturing No Runs – correction and completion of department related issues preventing scheduled job operations from completing.
- Work with Engineering to create quick guides for known process capabilities.
- Provide Global Planning backup and support.
- Provide feedback to Estimating when manufacturing methods changed at time of new part setup to meet manufacturing standards, significantly impacting gross margins.
- Perform other duties/tasks as apparent or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience or training in a related field.
- Two to four years of experience in the label converting industry or related experience.
- Working knowledge of various software, including Windows, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Must have good organizational skills.
- Must be very detail oriented.
- Must have strong analytic skills.
- Familiarity with formal problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of bar code symbology's, creation, application and specifications preferred.
