Orthopaedic Technician - Concord Orthopaedics
SIGN ON BONUS $1,000 payable in 6 -month increments.
Starting pay: $23/hour, commensurate with experience.
Full time position
The Orthopaedic Technician primarily applies and removes casts, splints and durable medical equipment with associated patient education. Evaluates and assesses wounds with appropriate communication to provider. Contributes to the flow of provider schedules by rooming patients and collecting health history information. Maintains positive relationships with patients, the patient's family members, other visitors and fellow employees.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a formal Orthopedic Technologist program required
- Previous medical experience desired
- Ability to maintain composure when confronted with fast paced and stressful situations
- Ability to work with patients of all ages
- Pleasant attitude and neat appearance
- Must have excellent communication, telephone and computer skills
Job Duties:
- Perform a variety of orthopedic related activities including, but not limited to, applying and removing dressings, removing sutures/staples, applying and removing casts and splints.
- Apply braces and durable medical equipment as direct by physician.
- Provides patient education on care and maintenance of cast or splint. Educates patient on extremity signs and symptoms of ill-fitting cast/splint.
- Ordering/preparation of medication including injections under the direction of the physician.
- Assists physician with examinations and procedures and consults with the physician and other specialists as required to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assists the front office staff with patient scheduling, patient callbacks, coordinating patient referral, and securing appropriate insurance approvals.
- Performs daily administrative duties of the practice including scheduling patients, organizing patient charts, ensuring completion of superbill for charges and diagnosis, coordination patient referrals, and securing appropriate insurance approvals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires moderate to frequent reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting, moderate keyboarding, moderate clerical work at sitting workstation, frequent walking and moderate to heavy lifting. Position requires ability to help in transfer of patients to exam table.
