Our Indianapolis artisan bread bakery is looking for a skilled Bread Baker and Production Manager who is interested in a leadership role in our regionally known artisanal bakery.
The Production Manager’s primary function is overseeing, while participating in, the bench and oven production phases of handcrafted artisan breads, wholesale breads and private label products.
The Production Manager is responsible for : Bench Production Staff, Mixers, and Bakers.
What does the job pay?
Starting pay is $45000 - $50,000 with eligibility for a bonus plan, based on business performance.

Availability :
- Full-time, salaried : average 45 hours per week, with hours primarily between 5 am - 2 pm
- Sunday availability required (We bake Sunday Thursday)
- Holiday availability required. We close only on New Year’s Day, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Performance Expectations - Essential Functions :
- Manage the production floor with above average proficiency in all trained roles
- Assist with hiring and training new staff
- Give constructive oral and written performance-based feedback
- Assist with staff development
- Assist with managing labor and food cost
- Assist with measurable and consistent improvements in food quality
- Lead departmental huddles (meetings)
- Proficient with email and order entry system
- Attend and participate in monthly food safety team meeting
- Actively participates in all aspects of production :
- Scheduling production
- Mixing dough
- Hand-shaping dough
- Proper proofing of breads
- Loading and unloading the ovens
- Works with staff and personal physical safety in mind
- Dedicated to following all food safety rules and good manufacturing practices
- Actively engages all staff daily
- Model & teach direct communication
- Is a model of great service
- Make production-related decisions
- Troubleshooting production methods to address any quality issues and seasonal changes
- Conducting interviews and hiring new staff
- Supervising and tracking training of new employees, monitoring and reviewing employee performance
- Coordinating weekly scheduling, paying attention to employee attendance and punctuality
- Implementing schedule of daily cleaning / maintenance tasks; suggesting and performing periodic cleaning / maintenance tasks
- Optimizing equipment condition / cleanliness and manner of use during daily production
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly during shift
- Must stand, lift and bend for duration of shift
- Must be comfortable with repetitive motion
- Must be able to work in a hot and humid environment (82-90 degrees)
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours
