What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary - Defense Litigation position at Confidential Law Firm?
Prestigious, long-standing high volume defense litigation law firm located in the Central Jersey shore area is seeking a full-time litigation secretary with 5 years experience. Hard-working, self-starter with excellent communication skills a must. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks, and work independently. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook, with PC Law and Abacus experience preferred but not mandatory. Excellent benefits package.
Duties:
- Manage calendar, including scheduling, confirming and/or rescheduling of depositions. Preparation of subpoenas for witnesses. Confirm arbitration hearings and trials, including availability of clients and expert witnesses for trial testimony. Communicate with insurance carriers and private clients Request adjournments of trials as necessary.
- Prepare correspondence to insurance carrier, adversaries, medical experts and court. Scan documents to insurance carrier portal. Provide all necessary medical records and diagnostic studies to experts.
- Prepare Interrogatories and pleadings including Answers and Motions.
- Schedule independent medical examinations.
- Transcribe dictation tapes on occasion.
- Organize files.
