Job Summary:
The Purchasing and Raw Inventory Manager is responsible for managing inventory and the purchasing of raw materials and other supplies. This position is tasked with researching pricing, monitoring inventory levels, distributing supplies, and negotiating contracts. This individual will also partner with other department managers to determine supply needs, specifications and ordering of materials and the coordination/supervision of receiving procedures.
Duties:
- Controls purchasing department budgets. Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plan. Negotiates contracts and formulates policies with suppliers, prepares bid awards that require board approval.
- Monitors market conditions, raw material costs and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Monitor inventory levels/items, review, prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Monitor physical inventory items, identify discrepancies, and collaborate with accounting on large discrepancies.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains records of goods ordered and received.
- Maintains external site used for UPC/SKU creation for finished product.
- Creates/builds new items within internal platform ensuring inventory, packaging, labeling, palletization, pricing, and shipping details are accurate.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Collaborates with appropriate personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in accounting, business or other appropriate degrees
- 3 years' experience in logistics role or related experience
- Direct experience leading a team of direct reports
- Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems
- Experience with pricing strategies, contract reviews
- Experience in of forecasting and budgeting
- Experience in customer service, company to company communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with exceptional strong Excel proficiency developing and utilizing complex spreadsheets
- Strong analytical abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to multi-task with high sense of urgency.
