Communications Manager
Congregation Bonai Shalom is currently seeking a tech-savvy, creative, and dedicated Communications Manager to coordinate and distribute information about Bonai and community events to our members and the Boulder Jewish community.
Job Description:
The Communications Manager is a critical part of the community of Bonai Shalom, ensuring clear, timely, and accessible communications to our members and the wider community. This position reports to the Executive Director and works alongside a dynamic staff.
The primary duties of this position are:
- Receive and process event requests from members, other staff, and community members
- providing communication and coordination support for the following resource development functions (and working with the appropriate committees for each): membership outreach, engaging volunteers, annual fundraising activities, and capital campaign activities
- Create and design graphic elements for use in promotion of events and announcements
- Build forms using membership database software (Shulcloud) and/or Google Forms for event registration, High Holidays, and the Religious School
- Create and distribute at least one weekly email communication to the wider community (eNews)
- Create and distribute the Bonai B’Yachad newsletter (for the new building) twice a month.
- Keep the website calendar up to date with Bonai events, community events, and other relevant information
- Design quarterly print mail communications to be distributed to Bonai membership
- Collaborate with other employees, board members, and volunteers on larger programming projects (Seder matching for Passover, Hanukkah Retreat programming, High Holiday programming, Purim campaign, etc.)
- Assist IT specialist in resolving technical issues related to the website, the livestream system, and help to troubleshoot technical issues with Zoom or other virtual components for hybrid or virtual events
- Manage video library on YouTube for the weekly service, any special events or services, and other recorded programming
- Update the website regularly with timely graphics and relevant information/announcements
- Collaborate with Executive Director, Education Director, Rabbi, and relevant Board members to update policy documents and handouts as needed (B’nai Mitzvah Handbook, Religious School brochure, Bonai Shalom One-Page, etc.)
- Assist members and guests with completing online registration forms, making donations, managing their Shulcloud accounts, and other administrative tasks
- Manage the phone in the absence of the Office Manager, directing calls to the appropriate employee, taking messages, or answering questions
- Maintain a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a personable, reliable, experienced communications or graphic design professional with a commitment to customer service.
The ideal candidate has:
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in marketing, graphic design, communications, or other relevant field
- Bachelor's degree or higher level of education in relevant field
- Experience and high level of proficiency with Google suite of products (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
- Experience using Canva
- Attention to detail and ability to assist with copyediting
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with initiative on tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Willingness to learn
Other desired qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of Judaism and Jewish culture, customs, holidays, and familiarity with the needs of a Conservative Jewish congregation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with relevant technology and equipment (Live stream camera, OBS, microphones, etc.)
- Experience using Canva, Photoshop, or Adobe suite
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and responsibilities, and will range from $23-25 per hour. This position also includes a healthcare stipend, paid holidays, and paid time off. This is a full-time hourly W2 position that will average 40 hours per week, occasionally requiring a non-traditional work schedule that may include some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Congregation Bonai Shalom is a vibrant, growing, multigenerational Conservative synagogue of about 250 households in Boulder, Colorado. We are a diverse and talented community of individuals, who are dedicated to supporting one another and the community as a whole. We are an inclusive congregation and have, as our foundation, a warm, accepting, and participating membership. We welcome and strive to accommodate people of all abilities and encourage all members to be active participants in our community. We are located along the banks of South Boulder Creek and across the street from the brand new Boulder JCC. Our shul also enjoys strong relationships with the other Jewish communities in Boulder.
