Job Summary
Performs equipment changeovers in a manual and robotic CNC machining area. Regularly inspects operator stations to ensure that any required gauging, maintenance, or other corrective actions are carried out according to ConMet policies. Operates CNC machining stations as needed to meet production levels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs setup procedures for product changeover, changing out tooling and reconfiguring equipment as needed.
- Monitors all CNC stations in machine shop, supporting minor maintenance as needed.
- Regularly communicates with CNC operators, reporting major problems to supervisor.
- Ensures operator time is used efficiently.
- Checks work completion and ensures operations are carried out correctly.
- Examines parts for defects using micrometers and other gauging equipment.
- Interprets setup sheets for lathes and drill stations on a per-job basis and inputs variables into computer.
- Fills out maintenance work orders when needed.
- Verifies accuracy of product tickets.
- Ensures conforming and non-conforming product is properly identified, accounted for, and delegated at the end of shift.
- Provides on-the-job training for CNC operators.
- Operates a forklift to move product, loading and unloading trucks at dock when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Must have demonstrated distinctive knowledge of the functionality and setup of machining equipment.
- Must be able to work consistently and troubleshoot under pressure.
- Must possess a working knowledge of the hub product line; good product knowledge and ability to locate and identify correct components.
- Superior initiative and positive attitude; willing to do what is necessary to meet production requirements; willing to accept responsibility.
- Ability to serve in a leadership position and direct others through instruction and by example.
- Attention to detail and quality of product.
- Ability to work well with others – including all supervisors and managers in all departments and on all shifts.
- Ability to follow work instructions, understand and complete work orders, fill out paperwork correctly and clearly.
- Willing to work overtime and Saturdays as required on short notice.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math skills (decimals, min/max values).
- Forklift license beneficial but not required.

Environmental & Physical Demands
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Occupational noise exposure is high during performance of required duties. Adequate hearing protection is provided and required at all times.
- Occupational exposure to fumes and dust is regularly encountered. Personal Protective Equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed, industrial footwear is required at all times.
