This position reports to the Vice President of Human Resources. The Human Resources Manager's role is to be a solid business partner to the operations management team and is a core member of Conn Selmer's HR Management Team. Responsible for implementing, coordinating, administrating, and adhering to policies and programs relating to employee relations, recruiting, training, employment, benefits, and safety to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and employment laws. Manage and administer all HR functions at the assigned union facility and maintains positive employee relations.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and administer company personnel policies and procedures as necessary for consistent and fair treatment of all employees.
- Communicate changes in personnel policies, procedures, standards, and government regulations to employees and supervisors. Counsel employees and supervisors on personnel policies and personal problems.
- Provide support to Corporate Benefits Administration in handling day-to-day employee questions, processing forms, etc. as it relates to administering benefits at plant location.
- Administer and communicate HR regulations/laws, State & Federal (FMLA, HIPPA, FLSA, EEOC, Wage and Hour)
- Represent the facility as a member of the corporate EAC committee and manage the local EAC committee to ensure company functions such as special events, training, holiday activities, etc. are being held in alignment with company established requirements and, in an effort, to maintain a positive work culture.
- As a member of Conn Selmer's HR management team, attend required HR meetings and ensure open and honest communications are maintained with the corporate HR staff
- Maintain accurate records in the Human Resource Information System and personnel files. Ensure confidentiality is maintained
- Coordinate and administer facility’s programs including Worker’s Compensation and medical leaves; ensure compliance with FMLA & OSHA regulations; safety orientation
- Ensure compliance with union contract. As the local HR representative, handle all labor relations issues, including the grievance process. Represent local HR during union negotiations
- Presents a strong presence and possesses relationship development skills appropriate in a manufacturing environment (highly visible on the production floor and interacting with employees).
- Conduct hourly recruitment efforts for facility including maintaining accurate job descriptions, screening and reviewing applications; interviewing applicants to match experience with specific job related requirements; contacting references to obtain additional information; new hire orientation.
- Provide orientation to new employees by providing new hire and benefit enrollment information including preparation of orientation materials
- Ensure all new hire documentation and paperwork is completed and filed accordingly. Complete and submit accurate documentation for changes and activity logs weekly for hourly employees to corporate payroll by designated timelines
- Maintain HR metrics and KPI’s (attendance, turnover, etc.)
- Attend all required HR and production meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources in a union manufacturing environment.
- Proficient computer skills – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in one-on-one situations and in groups
- Excellent working knowledge of labor and employment laws
- Must be a self-starter, innovative, have initiative, able to multi-task, adaptable to change, and have excellent time management skills.
- Requires repetitive upper body movement – keyboard and monitor use
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time—walking production floors and interacting with employees on the plant floor
- Periods of long sedentary work
Salary : $54,800 - $69,400
