This position will start as a Donation Intake Coordinator, responsible for incoming referral calls from hospitals to screen donors for basic medical information, all while completing necessary documentation. After mastering screening in as little as 3-6 months, choose your career path as a Medical Records Specialist OR a Family Support Advocate- both include a salary increase! Shifts available from 6:30am-6:30pm. Enjoy a 3-day weekend every other week. Salary starts at $17.50.
As a Medical Records Specialist, you will:
- Evaluate all referral medical information to determine patient suitability for donation.
- Communicate with hospital staff, Funeral Directors, and medical examiners to obtain additional medical information, morgue time and any other important details.
- Thoroughly prepare case to be handed off to Family Support Specialist for approach call to Next-of-Kin/Family.
As a Family Support Advocate, you will:
- Call Next-of-Kin/Family and obtain authorization while maintaining sensitivity, empathy and privacy.
- Help the Next-of-Kin /Family to understand the full donation process while remaining engaged and respecting the grief of the family.
- Act as a resource for the Next-of-Kin/Family.
Schedule:
- 2-week repeating Pitman Schedule
- Twelve-hour shifts from 6:30am-6:30pm
- Enjoy a 3-day weekend, every other week
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree of higher preferred.
Experience Requirements:
- Customer service experience required, call center preferred
- Medical office, or healthcare setting preferred but not required.
- Medical terminology and/or medical record review preferred.
- Basic typing and computer skills necessary such as Microsoft Office
- Ability to be empathetic and compassionate handling sensitive situations such as grief
- Must be able to remain professional in making decisions and handling confidential information
- Punctual, reliable and self-motivated
