PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Acts and functions as a tactical resource in the deployment of learning services and technical training initiatives provided across Exelon Power. Demonstrates mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in carrying out assignments associated with the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and proposed modification of plant specific maintenance or technical training programs. Administers formal classroom lectures, laboratory and in-plant instruction of technical material. Develops, prepares and conducts plant specific and generic training programs for operating and maintenance personnel. Prepares and administers written and performance evaluations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drives station and personnel performance improvement through the use of training. Develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts performance-based maintenance or technical training programs as required by Exelon’s management model, department procedures, and with proper application of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases.
- Identifies ideas to broaden the usage of learning technologies to make existing and future learning and developmental offerings more robust and consistent with business needs and learning agendas, i.e. blended learning solutions, performance simulations and virtual classrooms.
- Subject matter expert (SME) for training and provides support all employee at all Exelon Power plants/facilities as needed.
- Promotes and applies learning and development tools, resources and best practices to business specific projects and needs.
- Develops and delivers training material and integrates customer feedback to continually improve, grow and develop learning solutions for employees.
- Supports the control of costs for day-to-day operations, projects and vendor contracts related to technical and compliance training efforts
- Identifies new technologies and ideas to promote continuous improvement of Training programs.
- Provides technical guidance and training to others as required. Presents training in classroom and on-the-job-training (OJT) settings.
- Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external peers and customers to ensure free-flow of information and sharing of best practices and lessons learned
- May perform other duties as assigned
JOB SCOPE
- May serve as lead for Training department as needed
- Travel to all sites and continued learning will be required
- Demonstrated ability to use computer applications audio/visual equipment for presentation development and delivery
- Assists training management in establishing department goals, and cost estimates that result in budgeted activities for the assigned area including specific project or subject matter areas as assigned.
- Indirectly responsible for significant financial impacts related to course/program validity and subsequent plant/employee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in science/engineering or education/training or 2 years equivalent experience
- 8 years of related industry experience with 3 of those years of technical background and 2 years in training/education
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Successful completion of the NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program will be required.
- Ability to write technical instructional material in accordance with policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ability to train and motivate others and to design, implement and monitor training programs.
- Thorough knowledge of all safety procedures, codes, work practices, and procedures used in the operation and maintenance of power plants.
- Bachelors degree in science/engineering or education/training
- Knowledge of and experience with the systematic approach to training (SAT)
- 15 years of commercial power plant training experience
- 5 years of technical background
