Expected salary range of $126,000 to $140,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
As the Cash Trader, you will work as a member of a power trading team to optimize the value of the Southeast power generation and load portfolios by managing daily physical and financial power positions, deploying risk in power and fuel trading markets to add new business dollars to the portfolio, and developing and executing daily, weekly, and monthly physical transmission strategies.
You will collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders such as real time trading, generation dispatch, origination, and analytical groups within the Constellation organization to support position management, transaction structuring, pricing, budgeting and performance/PnL tracking.
In this role, Cash Traders add value by:
- Monetizing the physical power assets and positions in the Southeast.
- Building and maintaining relationships with industry counterparties.
- Deploying risk in a consistently profitable manner within the risk compliance policies of the company.
- Developing and executing physical transmission strategies to capture spreads in the daily, weekly, and monthly markets.
- Communicating Southeast physical power expertise while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with FERC, NERC, and ISO standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Manage the Southeast portfolio’s daily physical and financial fixed price positions and deploy risk through power and fuel trading markets while adding new business dollars to the financial plan within portfolio commodity risk tolerances.

2. Develop and execute daily, weekly, and monthly physical transmission strategies in coordination with other Cash Trader.

3. Coordinate physical power strategies with real time traders and provide support during volatile periods.

4. Provide transactional support for long-term structured deals as the physical power expert.

5. Provide project support as an involved member of the region’s business plan projects and departmental initiatives.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of transactional experience in physical wholesale electricity markets and the associated infrastructure supporting those trading marketplaces required (transmission/physical power flow, generation dispatch, load forecasting)
- Knowledge of PJM and MISO wholesale electricity markets and the associated infrastructure supporting those trading marketplaces
- Demonstrated decision making capabilities coupled with the ability to work under tight deadlines
- Challenged by bottom-line results
- Self-motivated to achieve success in a rapidly evolving environment
- Understanding of fuel markets and their relationship to power markets
- Analytical rigor and ability to summarize analysis into actionable, practical conclusions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-graduate degree in Engineering, Business or Economics
- Experience in Southeast power markets
