Job Summary: The Program Manager possesses strong leadership skills and has responsibility for the company's planning and performance of major business programs throughout all phases of the program lifecycle. The Program Manager is responsible for the cost, timing, technical performance, quality and customer satisfaction of company programs. The Program Manager understands the customer's perspective, proactively responds to the customer, and gains customer trust by continually meeting commitments and quality standards. Concurrently the Program Manager ensures the programs also meet the strategic and operational goals of the business unit. The Program Manager will accomplish all of this by leading and directly or indirectly managing the performance of cross-functional teams, peer organizations, affiliates and multiple suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Function as the primary point of contact with the external customer
- Communicate to the customer all key information (timing, program status, change management) in customer specific formats
- Effectively communicate with executive management on program status (cost, timing, financial status), risks and risk mitigation plans
- Manage expectations of all parties (customer, company, supplier, etc.) involved in delivery of program
- Lead multi-discipline program core team typically consisting of: Sales, Product Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, Operations and Logistics.
- Cascade program requirements and lead team members in achieving program targets for: cost, profitability, quality, technical requirements, capital & tooling budgets, program timing, supplier & end item PPAPs and customer targets typically consisting of product performance, delivery, quality and cost
- Create team schedules and lead key meetings including: steering committee reviews, core team working meetings, change control, and launch readiness reviews
- Receive and critically assess all business case inputs (design, manufacturing plan, material and parts cost, operating costs, etc.) with respect to cost, timing and feasibility
- Plan and follow-up of all trial runs: prototype, pre-production, PPAP, etc.
- Integrate lessons learned from previous programs and generate new lessons learned at all appropriate points of program (typically as closure of each gate)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or comparable technical experience (required)
- Proven knowledge of, and experience with, program management methodology, tools and techniques (required)
- Experience with direct external customer interface and communication (required)
- Ability to lead, motivate and drive a cross-functional core team (required)
- Working knowledge of financial metrics (project costing / EBITDA, etc.) (required)
- Ability to make decisions based on multiple factors including engineering, financial, timing and quality inputs (required)
- Ability to work with people in pressure situations and prioritize activities in a fast-paced environment (required)
- Experience with Ford and Ford specific systems and processes (WERS, CAR, VP&P, SREA, etc.) Additional OEM system knowledge (preferred)
- Experience with PLEX Smart Manufacturing Platform (preferred)
