Job Purpose
The Health Educator will lead the development of evidence informed campus-wide student well-being strategies around student mental and emotional well-being and suicide prevention, using a comprehensive, public health approach. The Health Educator addresses challenges and change collaboratively and creatively through supporting students, conducting campus needs assessments, building positive partnerships, implementing innovative initiatives, and evaluating impact and reach. The position helps support the mission of Gonzaga University and the Office of Health Promotion by fostering a campus culture of well-being.

The budgeted annual salary that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position is $48,500 – $53,000.
The full internal range is $47,214- $63,878

Minimum Qualifications
  • BA two (2) years of related experience or six (6) years of related experience if substituting experience for education requirement.
  • Ability to critically review well-being related professional literature and organizational frameworks relevant to college students and assess their applicability and utility for effectiveness on campus. Strong interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to operation student information reporting system.
  • FERPA knowledge.

Desired Qualifications
  • BA five (5) plus years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with the NASPA Peer Health Educator model and/or certification as a trainer.
  • Working experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
  • QPR and/or ASIST Trainer.

Physical / Environmental Qualifications
  • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Ability to prep for and attend meetings and events across campus in various weather conditions.
  • Wrist and hand movement related to computer work.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, stretch and reach.
  • Pick-up, carry and move items up to 25 lbs.
