With a commitment to our vision that strong relationships drive strong results and better business, our people make Cooper Machinery Services legendary.   Job Overview: The Technical Proposal Writer is an internal and external customer-interfacing member of the Cooper sales team responsible for developing in-depth turn-key technical proposals and selling major emissions and reliability upgrade projects. Our ideal candidate is someone with hands-on experience on slow integral compressors and who has or is looking to transition to a customer-facing, problem-solving role.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Proposal Writer will be responsible for the following: Work with Cooper’s outside sales team to recommend Cooper innovations & technological solutions to address customer ESG, automation, and reliability requirements and improve operational performance. Work with Cooper’s engineering team to develop detailed turn-key technical proposals to sell Cooper’s suite of upgrades Perform site walks at customer locations to support proposal development and troubleshoot operational issues Provide technical support to the sales team and manage relationships with existing customers Other duties as assigned Travel ~30% of the time Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical, industrial, or similar field is preferred Strong knowledge of combustion, emissions, and performance standards of reciprocating engines Basic understanding of contract structures Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with customers Experience in sales, engineering, or commercial proposal development is a plus Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and SAP Commitment to safety, customer service quality, and working in a team-oriented environment Competencies: Communication Customer-oriented Business focused A self-starter Dependable Strong teamwork skills Results oriented Sense of urgency Cooper Machinery Services is an equal opportunity employer and gives all qualified applicants consideration of employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
