Based in our Cudahy, WI location, this position works under the direction of the Purchasing Manager to ensure the timely procurement of standard materials, supplies, parts, and equipment from established sources.
AS A BUYER / BUYER ll, YOU WILL:
- Procure standard materials from established suppliers at the best price advantage to the company, while meeting quality and delivery requirements.
- Process purchase requisitions and place orders with suppliers.
- Actively follow-up and expedite orders to meet production and customer service requirements; entering all changes and updates in the purchasing system.
- Resolve issues on the "Unresolved Items List" and invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Update stakeholders with order changes that impact their required service (product changes, delivery changes, quality issues, etc.).
- Assist in processing quality-related issues (RMA's, NCR's, rework, scrap).
- Maintain accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information in the purchasing database (e.g., pricing, quantity breaks, part numbers, descriptions, lead times, etc.).
- Assist with assigned special projects to promote department efficiency.
- Coordinate with Engineering to update drawings, ensuring the most current information is available to our suppliers, and that the most recent revision is being ordered.
- Complete and maintain all required reports, paperwork, invoices, documentation, etc.
- Follow procedures and align with all quality and safety regulations.
WHO YOU ARE:
You are a customer-focused, committed person who is able to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with internal and external customers, across Vilter's functional areas, and see items through to completion.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Buyer: Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of purchasing or supply chain experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Buyer II: Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of purchasing or supply chain experience.
- ERP/MRP working experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret purchase orders, vendor catalogs, supplier correspondence, etc.
- Experience writing business correspondence
- Ability to effectively communicate across functions.
- Experience communicating and negotiating with vendors
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business Administration
- Five (5) or more years of purchasing or supply chain experience
- Oracle ERP experience
