What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Tester II position at Core Lab?

QUALITY CONTROL TESTER II

SUMMARY
To perform Quality Control testing three or more of the following product lines:
Explosive Shaped Charges, Detonators, Power Charges, Pipe Recovery Devices or Liners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs assigned tests on product where results are compared with company quality standards. Reports results to Production Manager, Supervisor or Lead Person, and notifies Engineering when results are not up to quality standards.
  • Inspects product visually for obvious defects.
  • Performs in-process inspection and testing where required to determine quality of product during manufacturing process.
  • Notifies Manufacturing Engineer or other Engineering personnel when inspection data are outside acceptable limits or when major incidents of poor quality are noted.
  • Records test results on inspection forms and reports any defects found.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be able to read and follow written procedures and instructions.
  • Must be able to record test data accurately.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or technical school degree, or equivalent is required.
Minimum 18 months experience in Quality Control Testing

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Good communication skills required. The ability to work well within a TEAM environment is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic math skills required. Algebra experience a plus.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Dexterity and precision required to operate measuring tools and test equipment. Ability to pass a company physical and respirator fit test. Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to work long hours as required

Ability to work in varying weather conditions, heat and cold.
May requires the use of the following personal protective equipment:
  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
  • Respirator (facial hair is limited to moustache; beards interfere with fit of respirator)
  • Grounding wrist strap (for field sensitivity testing)
  • Steel toe safety shoes
  • In reference to Process Safety Management, process hazards analysis this job has a risk event code of 4.
