Corewell Health West’s Women’s Health Service Line is expanding and seeks to add an OB/GYN academic hospitalist physician to our growing Core Faculty team at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI! Enjoy working 11-12 inpatient shifts per month with the opportunity to increase your clinical FTE by also seeing patients in our busy OB/GYN residency clinic.
We offer:
- A collaborative team of physicians and advanced practice providers, including certified nurse midwives, working at one of the highest volume labor and delivery units in the country.
- 12-hour shifts, working alongside a midwife and core faculty physician, as well as a robust MFM team.
- This service supports our academic OB service, uncovered OB and GYN patients, coverage for MFM patients, and night coverage for a community-based clinic, as well as the outpatient residency practice.
- Our Core Faculty team works in a professional environment and provides primary teaching of residents and medical students. Supervision of residents/medical students is a key component to this job and there is an active teaching component involved.

Located on the “medical mile,” Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, has a full complement of adult medical and surgical subspecialists. Approximately 7500 babies are born here each year! 24-hour anesthesia coverage is available on L&D and we have a full-service Level IV NICU. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is connected to and part of the Butterworth Campus and offers a full array of pediatric subspecialists, including world renown pediatric cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery programs!
Grand Rapids, Michigan, the second largest city in the state, is an urban community based in West Michigan, only 35 minutes from the shores of Lake Michigan! - Assesses and monitors the medical needs of patients/significant others.
- Provides quality medical services to patients in a cost effective, appropriate manner and ensures coverage of case load at all times.
- Provides input into the development of policies and procedures as they related to medical practice and quality patient care.
- Provides oversight of Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners and others providing delegated services to patients.
- Evaluates patients'/significant others'/staff educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or delegates to appropriate resources.
- Documents in a manner consistent with regulatory standards.
- Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. Acts as a patient/family advocate.
- Participates in ongoing process improvement activities through the development/application of clinical paths, process improvement and other related activities.
Actively works with Corewell Health to meet financial and patient satisfaction goals.
- Required Bachelor's Degree
- LIC-Physician (MD) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
- LIC-Osteopathic Physician (DO) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-DEA Registration - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required Or
- CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 120 Days required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association If required by specialty or stress test performed 120 Days required
