POSITION: Mechanical Designer
COMPANY OVERVIEW:
CoreWorks is a US based, custom equipment manufacturer who designs, sells, fabricates, assembles, packages and services Brazed Aluminum Heat Exchangers (BAHX), Cold Boxes, Plate-Fin Kettles (PFK), Process Skids and other associated processing equipment. Our products are used in fluid processing applications serving Natural Gas Processing (NGP), Liquified Natural Gas (LNG), Petrochemical (PC) and Industrial Gas (IG) markets.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform mechanical design and drafting duties required to integrate and fabricate custom designed equipment, piping and structure for natural gas processing (NGP), liquified natural gas (LNG), industrial gas (IG) and petrochemical applications. Exhibit a complete understanding of 3D modeling and 2D drafting software as well as best practices and procedures. Read and interpret client supplied specifications and data to accurately model equipment and customer interfaces. Work closely with CoreWorks engineers and operations to produce models and drawings that support our fabrication and project documentation needs. Develop and manage parts libraries and create purchase part drawings for procurement of various components.
This position requires working a minimum of forty hours per week or as dictated by the needs of the business.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and interpret customer supplied specifications and documents - P&IDs, PFDs, technical specifications, and fabrication drawings.
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings for shop fabrication and integration of various pieces of plant process equipment (heat exchangers, vessels, valves, cold boxes, piping).
- Ability to implement ASME VIII (Pressure Vessels) or ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) code requirements into designs/models and create fabrication drawings.
- Assist engineering with the design and layout of packaged equipment, assemblies, subassemblies, supports and other components.
- Support fabrication activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Develop quotation and concept drawings as requested.
- Create and manage equipment bill of material (BOM), parts lists, standard purchase part drawings, standard weld detail drawings, model parts libraries and specifications.
- Effectively interface with engineering, procurement, sales, and manufacturing personnel.
- Collaborate with third party engineering firms as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2-year degree from a Technical College in the field of mechanical drafting or mechanical technology.
- Must have 2-5 years of relevant experience performing responsibilities similar to those defined above.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency with 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Inventor Mechanical, Solidworks and/or CadWorxs) and creating and managing 2D fabrication drawings (AutoCAD) required.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with process piping, processing equipment, equipment layouts and structural design/detailing (i.e.: interconnecting piping, heat exchangers, vessels, valves, pumps, distillation columns).
- Some understanding of and familiarity with requirements of ASME Section VIII, Div.1, ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) and AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3 and D1.6 (structural steel welding) preferred.
- Understanding of AWS weld symbols and preparation of shop fabrication, standard detail and purchase part drawings.
- Ability to plan and adhere to document submittal and production schedules.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized, have strong attention to detail and a drive to complete tasks on time.
- Proficient with MS Office suite – Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
