PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Provides superior and quality member service in a friendly, professional manner in person, by phone, and through all correspondence. Actively cross-sells credit union products and services based on member needs. Provides efficient and accurate transaction processing. Assists members with loan applications, including interviewing, processing, and disbursing of funds. Assists members with financial education and solving account problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Processes member transactions, including, but not limited to, deposits, loan payments, cashier's checks, transfers, check cashing, withdrawals, and bank-to-bank wires.
2. Proofs and verifies transactions. Examines documents for endorsements and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies.
3. Is alert and aware to help prevent fraudulent activity or errors that would result in a loss to the credit union.
4. Opens and closes accounts, creates debit cards, and orders checks. Completes various forms associated with account ownership and member authorizations.
5. Stays informed and knowledgeable about IRA and Business Accounts and assists members with opening these types of accounts.
6. Balances daily transactions and verifies cash and check totals. Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions. Purchases and sells funds to the vault as needed to keep cash drawer at required levels.
7. Understands and adheres to all applicable banking regulations and CFCU policies and procedures.
8. Responds to member questions and directs them to other staff as needed.
9. Stays informed and knowledgeable of all credit union rates, fees, products, and promotions to assist the members with financial needs. Actively cross-sells products and services.
10. Provides information to members concerning different types of consumer loans, credit cards, terms, interest rates, and documentation needed for the loan.
11. Processes loan applications in person, by phone, mail, and through online channels. Evaluates applications for all required information, informing applicant of any additional documentation needed. Audits and scans loan documents.
12. Cross-sell payment protection and GAP insurance.
13. Completes all required Department of Motor Vehicle and Secretary of State documents, including securing/filing liens and titles.
14. Monitors loan queue and stays in communication with Centralized Lending for loans in progress.
15. Attends required training and department meetings as directed by the Branch Manager and Training Manager.
16. Keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained.
17. Ensures all required documents are imaged.
18. Ensures confidentially of all sensitive information including member's personal data.
19. Abides by all security and robbery procedures.
20. Assists with training other staff members as assigned.
21. Performs other duties as requested.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college or specialized financial services training is preferred.

Experience

• One year of teller experience is preferred. Minimum one year of customer service and/or sales experience with cash handling is required. Lending experience is desired.

Physical, mental and visual requirements

• The duties of this job are varied and are primarily designed to accommodate members. To efficiently meet the service needs of members, the job often requires the ability to alternate between standing, sitting and walking. Many of the duties are performed with a personal computer and require manual dexterity and accurate visual observation. Manual dexterity is also needed to quickly and accurately handle cash and essential documents. Excellent verbal and audio communication skills are needed to serve the members. The volume and nature of the duties of this job require the physical and mental stamina to withstand occasional periods of high stress.
