SUMMARY
STATEMENT/POSITION OVERVIEW
Supervises Buyers,
Purchasing Agents, and employees supporting the buying function. Keeps the General Manager informed regarding
buying performance, employee performance and other aspects of the buying
function. Meets with suppliers and customers as needed.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES
§ Keeps staff informed of relevant
information, policies and procedures.
§ Keeps management updated regarding all
aspects of responsibility area.
§ Conducts regular staff meetings.
§ Develops and trains employees.
§ Monitors quality and quantity of work
performed.
§ Ensures that proper procedures are
followed.
§ Encourages staff to use quality tools
and the quality process to resolve problems.
§ Works with other departments to improve
processes and information exchange.
§ Suggests improvements to management.
§ Attends training sponsored by the
company.
§ Maintains any statistical data required
to monitor processes.
§ Documents processes and events as
required.
§ Ensures that there is coverage for job
positions during vacations, illnesses and other times of staff shortage.
§ Ensures that staff has the necessary
tools to perform their job functions.
§ Keeps sufficient documentation to
provide evaluations and counseling for staff.
§ Minimizes direct and indirect expenses.

SPECIAL

§ BA and/or MBA or equivalent experience
§ 3 years of automotive industry distribution
management experience
