CorTech is seeking to hire a Farm Operator for our client in Benson, NC!
Pay rate: 23.79
Duties:
URGENT NEED
Currently working 5am-1:30pm. When it starts to get warmer out, April/May the hours will have top revert back to 3am-12pm due to the heat inside the houses. The site is always M-F weekend rotation.
Under the direction of the Group Leader, Raleigh, NC Sites, the employee is responsible for performing the day-to-day operations of a hatchery and grow-out facility to ensure the delivery of healthy Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) chickens in sufficient quantities to meet the demands of other sites. Typical hours are M-F, 3am-12pm, weekend work required.
Caring for birds (feed, water, air)
Reporting of daily observations of birds
Cleaning of hatcher units, brooder units or cages
Bleed birds for serology testing
All done in a way of maintaining the SPF status of the facility
Reporting of any equipment failure. All areas are maintained and work area clean and orderly.
Ensures that all equipment is cleaned and disinfected in accordance with documented procedures and inspects before use to insure that it has been properly cleaned and ready for the prescribed use.
Ensures that he/she and all site personnel and/or visitors follow approved strict biosecurity practices to protect the SPF status of chicken flocks.
Multiple head-to-toe, full body (hair included) showers DAILY are required to enter each multi-layers of the factility.
Proper use of all safety procedures and Record keeping skills.
Drives company vehicles to deliver birds. Will Need clean MVR.
Skills:
Position may require the employee to work flexible work hours to ensure standard business operations and to handle departmental emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Avian Biosecurity Policy
It is the responsibility of all Boehringer Ingelheim employees to take necessary steps to avoid contact with the avian species in general. This includes, but is not limited to, commercial poultry, yard chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, wild birds and pet birds.
Should contact occur, precautions must be taken prior to entering a critical building or location:
Anyone coming into contact with the avian species should not enter into a critical building or location for 72 hours unless they have showered, changed clothes and shoes.
This is a Specific Pathogen-Free (SPF) farm. Bio-security is higher than any other entity at Boehringer Ingelheim in that the birds have no antibiotics or vaccinations to protect them. Contact with avian species is absolutely forbidden, showers onto the property and house are absolutely necessary. Any incidental contact with an avian species requires a 72 hour lapse from the time contact occurred and entry onto the farm. Review the SOP’s for Health, Safely, Environmental practices.
**May not own or have contact with other birds or poultry.**
Follow all SOPs, Guidelines, Specs, etc. along with all federal, state, local and company regulations.
Education:
2-3 years experience working with animals preferred. Experience working with poultry preferred.
High School Diploma
3 years experience working with animals preferred.
Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
Must be able to squat, bend, and stoop, as well as twisting and turning.
Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity are important.
Ability to maneuver heavy carts on various terranes.
Must be able to work in a dusty and hot or cold environment.
Must be able to work a rotating weekend schedule.
Attendance is a must.
Must realize the importance of non-contamination process and be prepared to adhere strictly to the procedures.
Ability to read and understand SOP’s and guidelines and ensure adherence to them.
Basic computer skills.
Maintain professional working relations with all team members.
Attention to detail and ability to document work performed is required.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
Must not own poultry or pet birds and not reside in the same household with someone who does.
