Corteva has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join our organization with our Soybean Growth Chambers Team in Johnston IA.
This research assistant will be a key member of an aggressive soybean trait integration team within a growth chamber facility to develop improved soybean and wheat varieties. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties associated with plant management activities using a range of procedures and protocols. The ability to work rotational weekends and holidays during peak periods to care for our top genetics and plants in development is required.

This role will be on-site at the Corteva location.
What You'll Do:
- Perform day-to-day greenhouse/growth chamber activities including planting, pollinating, tissue sampling, pest/disease scouting, harvesting, data collection, and database management.
- Process improvement experimentation.
- Maintain facility cleanliness and safety standards.
- Lead assigned safety program(s).
- Ensure assigned operating protocols are updated as needed.
- Assist with training of full-time staff and temporary labor as required.
- Assume leadership responsibilities for assigned projects as needed.
- Various other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- You have your high school diploma/GED.

- You are willing and able to stand and sit for long periods of time, lift a minimum of 15 pounds, tolerate hours of repetitive work in a warm, humid environment with pollen and dust present year-round.
- You are comfortable and experienced in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc) Access, LIMS and iOS devices.
- You have the ability to communicate clearly, display a positive attitude, work efficiently and effectively with others in a team environment.
- You are willing and able to work a daytime schedule including occasional holidays and participating in the rotational weekend schedule to meet business needs during peak season.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Associates/Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Biology, or related field of study.
- Experience with plant propagation in a controlled environment setting.
- Plant pollination experience.
