Job Overview
As a Property Assistant Controller, you report to the Property Controller and are responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions for a portfolio of properties.
Roles You Will Play
The Closer
- Supervise the preparation of cash position/projection reports, working closely with Accounting team
- Oversee all monthly and annual close activities for a portfolio of properties, including the preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash account reconciliations
- Review all financials and reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Help Operations team review their annual budgets
The Facilitator
- Communicate clearly and routinely with Community, Regional Management, and Investment Management teams regarding financial statements and cash management
- Help develop, document, and communicate accounting policy and procedures; identify and implement process improvements as applicable
- Manage the training, development, and workload distribution of the Accounting team

Building Blocks of Success
- 5 years in the accounting field (real estate accounting experience preferred) with working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial accounting processes and systems, and general ledger reconciliation
- Supervisory training and/or experience required; audit experience a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA a plus
- Strong communication, planning, organizational, quantitative, and problem solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail while performing multiple assignments under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; OneSite experience preferred
