Summary:
The Cosm Engineering team develops technology to deliver best-in-class experiences in our digital and live streaming products. We are looking for a passionate and talented Lead Platform Engineer, Data, to help architect our Data platform and build solutions that enable our data consumers and others to measure our performance. The role will be architecting, building, and managing data pipelines that power business operations for our Cosm Venues. The candidate will help evolve our data platform, built on Databricks and AWS, to implement incremental data flow to join and transform internal and external data sources efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience using industry-standard tools and a strong drive to learn new techniques. We expect our engineers and leaders to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic when tackling new problems as we launch our venues and push technology to new heights.
The ideal candidate is a solutions-oriented person who can lead by example and is competent with all layers of the data platform. They should be willing to roll up their sleeves and be familiar with various technologies but know how to choose the best technology for the job. Some experience with e-commerce and retail data is a plus. Ideally, they are familiar with the sports & eSports industry and digital, tech, and streaming media. Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and mentor a team of data and software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data engineering infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of scalable and efficient data ingestion services and common tools.
Work closely with product stakeholders to refine the technical data platform roadmap.
Build tools to monitor job run status, data quality, and SLA thresholds.
Manage cross-team dependencies and work with tech leads on solutions.
Apply state of the art techniques for managing complex workflows, like incremental data flow.
Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the Engineering and Executive teams.
Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Exemplify excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deftly tailor technical communications to any audience.
Push the limits, try new technologies, take calculated risks, swing for the fences and proactively search for the best solutions and ideas in the marketplace.
Experience:
Proven experience (6 years) in software engineering and data engineering, with a strong emphasis on managing complex API development and data ingestion.
Strong experience with Dataframe-based development for data transformation, i.e. Pandas, Spark or writing analytical SQL queries, especially in a cloud environment.
Deep Experience with Data Bricks.
Strong Experience with data modeling and efficient design.
Strong Experience with source control tools such as GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Terraform and related CI/CD processes.
Strong Experience working with Data streaming services such as Kafka, etc.
Deep understanding of the data development cycle, including exploration, extraction and transformation of new data
Technical expertise creating machine learning models
Experience working with downstream data consumers
Working knowledge of web and app analytics, i.e. inbound attribution, UTM parameters, etc. is a plus
Experience with retail systems, i.e. point of sale and inventory tracking is a plus

The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $120,000 to $160,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
