Job Summary
Responsible for assisting in transporting youth to after-school services, community service work activities, other programs as needed, and transporting youth home at the conclusion of the service or activity. Supervise youth at community service worksites/during special work projects.
Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for maintaining written activity notes on participants enrolled in programs.
- Responsible for maintain mowers, weed eaters, and all other equipment as needed.
- Responsible for lawn mowing & trimming.
- Assists in the supervision of youth assigned to do community service work at worksites or special work projects.
- Assists in the transportation of youth to and from OPTIONS for their assigned community service work, group, or meetings.
- Assists in completing community service work intakes when needed.
- Assists other staff members as needed.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performs various clerical tasks in support of assigned duties and responsibilities, i.e. filing, copying, etc.
- Performs related duties as required
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Education equivalent to a High School Diploma and ability to work with high-risk youth.
Special Qualifications:
Must obtain satisfactory results of a criminal history background check and a CPS check. Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Possess project management, time management and leadership skills.
- Ability to effectively present information to co-workers.
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in contact with youth, parents/guardians of youth, and other officials.
- Ability to exercise tact and discretion in handling confidential personnel information.
- Ensures departments compliance with safety standards.
- Represent Options positively in public at all times.
- Knowledgeable with windows computer programs.
- Ability to maintain and operate lawn mowing and trimming equipment.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings is required.
- Ability to effectively develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
Working Conditions & Disclaimer
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as moderate. Must be able to lift 12-20 pounds. Tasks typically involve stooping, kneeling, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects, etc. Requires the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, and to see.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Essential functions are regularly performed in an office environment. May be required to perform work outdoors while supervising juveniles. May be exposed to violence and/or stressful situations and high-risk individuals.
