The IS Team is divided into two groups: the Applications Team and the Technical Operations Team. The Technical Operations Team, responsible for the infrastructure of the County of Nevada, includes three sub-teams: Desktop, Servers, and Network. This is an excellent opportunity to join the award-winning Nevada County Information Systems Team as a Network Systems Analyst with a focus on troubleshooting the network, and administering:
- Next Generation Firewalls
- LAN/WAN infrastructure
- VPN appliances
- Enterprise Wi-Fi and VoIP systems
The Network Team is currently planning many projects that will replace significant portions of our network hardware to provide continuous improvement for security and help shape the future state of our network.
The ideal Team Member is well-rounded, possessing strong customer service attitude and technical aptitude, with a willingness to grow and learn. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must the ability to document and present technical processes to non-technical audiences is essential. Continuous training will be provided.
Qualified candidates possess current knowledge in many of these areas:
- Cybersecurity practices
- Firewall configuration and administration
- Understanding of OSI model and basic troubleshooting
- Layer 1 principles
- Layer 2 and 3 switching concepts (VLAN, VXLAN, IP Routing, BGP, OSPF)
- Layers 4 through 7 principles
- DHCP, DNS, AD
- VPN, IPSec, GRE
- Network Monitoring
- Enterprise Wireless
- VoIP and Telephony
- SSL Certificates
- IOT device management (ie. cameras, door controls, industrial controls)
This Network Analyst position is a member of the Technical Operations Team. Under the direction of a Senior Analyst, this position will support our enterprise vision of excellent community services by implementing and maintaining dependable, stable, and secure systems. Our infrastructure spans multiple locations, supporting primary and backup data centers, and cloud hosting environments. Network analysts are often tasked with providing support to other IS personnel in situations characterized by uncertainties.
