Job Description:
EMS Technician I - BLS
The County is accepting applications for the full-time positions of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Technician 1 - BLS. These positions are responsible for responding to medical emergencies, accidents, fires, etc. in all areas of the County. Other duties include driving and operating emergency vehicles, maintaining duty files, daily and weekly station duties, as assigned. 10- or 12-Hour shift work will be required. Providers may be assigned to work at any EMS station located in Page County.
Required: Persons must have a current VA EMT-Basic or ALS certification, CPR, Haz-Mat Awareness, and EVOC, as recognized by Virginia Office of EMS. Candidates must have an acceptable driving history per the County insurance provider and department guidelines. Candidates must successfully pass a background investigating per the Virginia Office of EMS. Candidate must pass pre-employment drug screening and physical fitness testing (after receiving a conditional offer of employment). Candidates may be given an EMS test based on national standards.
Preferred: 1 year experience in a 911 system as a released patient care provider.
Salary is based on experience and certification. Salary range: $40,000 - $54,000. Excellent benefit package includes Virginia Retirement System participation with hazardous duty supplement, group life insurance, health insurance, and paid leave and holiday.
