What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Floodplain (Open Positions: 1) position at County of Richland, SC?
The purpose of this position is to develop, implement and administer a comprehensive floodplain management program to include, but not limited to planning; building sciences; floodplain mapping; community rating; and the enforcement of the County’s Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance as outlined in the Richland County Code of Ordinances. The position is responsible for interaction with all levels of government, professionals and the public. Organizes and conducts floodplain management workshops for local officials, building inspectors, development professionals, lenders, surveyors, real estate professionals, etc., within the County, on NFIP regulations and guidelines
This position is complex in nature, with little routine work. A high degree of accuracy is required. Errors could cause delays in meeting the community and developer's commitments and within the department, externally to outside agencies, private businesses, or citizens. Errors could also result in major cost overruns, and potential county liability. Errors could cause failed projects, unfulfilled commitments and significant expenditure of time and money to correct. This position is under the general guidance and direction of the County Engineer.
Requires Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, geology, or environmental sciences with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Planning or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires a valid state driver’s license.
Requires a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience.
