Clinical Consultant

• All laboratory personnel 

• Accessible to the laboratory to provide on-site, telephone or electronic consultation 
• Selection of test methodology appropriate for the clinical use of the test results
• Verification of the test procedures performed and the establishment of the laboratory’s test performance characteristics, including precision and accuracy of each test and test system
• Enrollment and participation in an HHS approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered
• Establishment of a quality control program
• Resolve technical problems and ensure remedial action is taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratories established performance specifications
• Training/competency of all testing personnel
• Evaluating and documenting the performance of individuals responsible for moderate complexity testing at least semiannually

• Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
• Laboratory equipment and information system operations 
• Certified in anatomic or clinical pathology or both or have at least one year of laboratory training or experience in non-waived testing, or master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science and at least two years of laboratory training or experience in non-waived testing

• Active MD/DO license in the state of California
• Certified in anatomic or clinical pathology or both or have at least one year of laboratory training or experience in non-waived testing, or master’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical or biological science and at least two years of laboratory training or experience in non-waived testing

• Eight-hour workday Monday-Friday, with occasional (but infrequent) need to work more than 40 hours per week to meet the needs of the organization; Sitting for extended periods of time. Frequent use of a computer; occasional stress in meeting deadlines and managing multiple concurrent projects
