Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Customer Service
   1. Greet customers---Smile, be friendly, and offer prompt service.
   2. Inform customers about services available and assess the customer's need.
   3. Stay up to date on all promotions and special offers.
   4. Practice suggestive selling.
   5. Answer phone according to policy.
   6. Provide answers to product and payment related questions.
   7. Bag merchandise if required or requested.
   8. Accurately process sales and refunds using cash registers.
   9. Be able to use different electronic equipment to provide customers with products or services.
   10. Thank customer.
2. Bookkeeping
   1. Prepare a shift-change report at the completion of shift in accordance with company guidelines.
   2. Properly clock in and out in accordance with the schedule posted.
   3. If your shift report reflects a variance of $5.00 plus or minus, you must give a detailed explanation as to “why” on your shift report.
   4. Proper sales and accounting of money orders during your shift.
   5. All sales are rang up on the register.
3. Housekeeping
   1. Maintain a neat, tidy, and orderly work area.
   2. Sweep, mop, and buff floors.
   3. Clean shelving and racks.
   4. Clean and sanitize restrooms.
   5. Clean cooler.
   6. Clean gasoline islands and pumps.
   7. Clean parking lot.
   8. Empty trash inside store and on lot.
   9. Check equipment and temperature.
4. Stocking and Pricing
   1. Stock items on shelf or racks.
   2. Change syrup box or CO2 tanks for fountain drinks.
   3. Keep fast food area stocked with coffee, tea, alligator ice, and condiments.
   4. Rotate all stock and pull out-of-date merchandise off the shelf and store in designated area.
   5. Price gun over any incorrect price tags and address with manager.
   6. Look for any items in the store not tagged and address with manager.
5. Security
   1. Only one person responsible for a register at a time.
   2. All monies must be counted in view of camera.
   3. Ensuring location is opened and closed securely and timely.

Requirement of the Job

1. Be able to read, understand, and write the English language at the eighth grade level.
2. Be able to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level in order to be able to make change, complete shift reports, and account for a variety of products during vendor check-in.
3. Be able to have sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process money orders.
4. Be able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash register and other equipment.
5. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and carry cases of milk cartons, soft drinks, beer, juice containers, and etc.
6. Be able to stock shelves and coolers.
7. Be able to react to a fire by lifting a fire extinguisher weighing 15 lbs. and moving it to the fire area.
8. Be able to tolerate exposure to gasoline fumes and cleaning products.
9. Be able to climb a ladder and work off of it.
10. Be able to sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and lift and carry trash containers to place in an outside bin.
11. Be able to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the store.
12. Be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 32 degrees up to 10 minutes at a time.
