Automobile Editor

The Editor, Video is responsible for supporting the production and distribution of Cox Automotive’s editorial video products, with a primary focus on supporting the Autotrader brand. The Editor, Video coordinates with the Managing Editor of Video to support all aspects of video production including script writing, video shoots, video editing, and on-camera hosting. In addition to video-related responsibilities the Video Editor assists the Cox Automotive editorial team by contributing to vehicle segment comparison tests, written reviews, and editorial awards programs. 

This position requires an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, accept constructive criticism, and use excellent communication skills, both with team members and external vendors. A successful candidate will be adept at integrating with a team, handling a wide variety of responsibilities, reliably completing tasks with minimal supervision, and devise new methods to improve video production quality and efficiency. 

Responsibilities

• Drive and assess new vehicles 
• Write vehicle reviews and video scripts
• Perform as on-camera host for vehicle reviews and related video products
• Attend auto shows to produce written and video coverage
• Attend new vehicle introductions on behalf of Cox Automotive
• Contribute feedback for video edits
• Voice scripts for videos
• Deploy completed videos to Autotrader.com, YouTube, and other social media outlets
• Create visual assets and related verbiage for video products
• Assist all aspects of video production
• Precision on-camera driving
• Participate in multi-vehicle comparisons
• Develop new video products 
• Analyze video performance analytics to gauge successes and discover opportunities for improvement

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
• Exceptional ability to write in a clear, engaging, and non-technical style
• Comfortable and charismatic on-camera presence
• Knowledge of current automotive technology 
• Knowledge of the competitive automotive landscape
• Ability to drive a manual transmission 
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Ability to incorporate constructive criticism and honest self-assessment to improve personal performance
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Wordpress and Brightcove a plus
• Experience with video and audio editing a plus
• Experience with photography and videography a plus
