What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Application Process Support Specialist position at Cox?
The Master Billing and Customer Relationships (MBCR) team is looking for a Billing Application and Process Support Specialist to fill an open position on our Mediation team. Team is responsible for the collection and processing of call records from the Cox network to downstream Billing, Fraud, Call Record analytics applications and other customer facing applications. Ideal candidate would have an understanding of mediation applications and how data and call records are collected, transformed and delivered to downstream applications. Candidate should also be familiar with monitoring mediation application and server health and data flows and be able to quickly become familiar with the downstream billing applications as internal customers of call record mediation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor application health and interface with infrastructure support team on server health
- Monitor data flows of mediation inputs and outputs and application alarms to ensure accurate daily processing
- Develop new processes for monitoring using NewRelic tools
- Develop and analyze daily mediation metrics to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of daily processes
- Understand network devices and sources delivering call detail records to mediation
- Perform troubleshooting of technical and business processes
- Assess and communicate production issues to leadership
- Proactively identify risks/pitfalls and articulate and document process improvements
- Participate in business strategy as it relates to the Telephony Mediation function
- Maintain an awareness of mediation industry standards
Qualifications:
Minimum:

- Linux/Unix experience for file management and application admin and troubleshooting
- Experience in data mediation or related technology field, preferably supporting CSGi’s Intermediate application
- Billing applications and process experience/knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills
Preferred:
- BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired
- 2 or more years of experience in leading cross functional projects/efforts
- Experience in Telecommunications industry
- New Relic application monitoring tools
- Shell and Python scripting experience
- Knowledge of file transfer protocols SSH, SFTP, FAI, SNMP
- Application networking knowledge
- System Security knowledge
- Experience with high availability applications
- Database systems and SQL development experience
- Real time mediation processing knowledge
- Using APIs to exchange data between applications
- Knowledge of Cloud based solutions
- Ability to work on-call outside of business hours
