What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Marketplace Director position at Cox?

The Digital Marketplace Director will be a cross-functional leader, focused on the growth of the core Manheim.com and OVE digital stores within the Manheim Marketplace.  Under the guidance of the Sr Dir Digital Enablement, this position will be responsible for leading the implementation of our digital marketplace strategy.   This role will have responsibility for monitoring the buy/sell performance within Manheim.com, understanding key client needs and driving product, policy and process enhancement to provide the best client experience and to drive business growth.   The Director will partner with multiple groups across a matrix, leading with influence to drive positive change.   Sales, Operations, Product, Technology, Program/Project Management, Assurance and Decision Support will be key partners, as well as close collaboration with Manheim’s physical and mobile auction leadership teams. 

This Director level position will not initially have direct reports, however future team management is possible. 

PRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Strategy

  • Influence and drive execution of the Digital Marketplace strategic goals to achieve/exceed the Long-Range Plan (LRP) and achieve financial objectives (Rev., Exp., Free Cash Flow and EBITDA) 
  • Together with the Sr Dir Digital Enablement, implement and monitor annual budget to determine revenue goals, expenses and effectiveness of budget plan.  
  • Leverage deep understanding of business drivers and levers to drive evolution of Manheim’s Digital Marketplace and evolve how clients interact with it.
  • Maintain relationships with Manheim’s sales and field organizations to drive deeper understanding of how digital can address business goals.
  • Conduct analysis to inform data-driven decision making built on insights on our clients and their buying behavior.

Tracking/Reporting

 

  • Provide direction and prioritization around the development and execution of Operational Metrics to track performance within Manheim.com and OVE.com
  • Provide regular high-level reporting on the Marketplace metrics, including sales, listings, client engagement, vehicle interest.  

Product Prioritization and Innovation

  • Coordinate with the Product Management team to recommend prioritization of enhancements to Manheim.com
  • Together with the product team, conceive of and define enhancements to expand opportunities within the wholesale automobile market. 
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes and proactive development of solutions ahead of need. 

Knowledge

  • Requires mastery of a professional discipline combining knowledge of theory and organizational expertise across several different disciplines within a function or several different job areas across functions.


General

  • Responsible for ensuring that all policies and procedures of Cox Automotive are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain an active role with clients to ensure high quality service and products.
  • Professionally represents the company and participates in industry conferences.
  • Provide leadership to create a culture of operational excellence

Qualifications:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • BS/BA degree in related discipline with advanced degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in related field. 
  • Experience in the automotive or wholesale auto auction industry or digital retailing in other industries preferred.  
  • Experience in contributing to strategic vision, then planning and carrying out 
  • Demonstrated record of outstanding success within an organization where innovation, collaboration and customer service are high priorities. 
  • Excellent community relations, interpersonal, leadership, an executive presence and strong, demonstrated collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • Other duties as needed or required
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes in order to meet business requirements.
