School Educational Assistant - 30-35 hrs/wk

Shift: Monday – Friday; 8:00 – 3:00P

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Experience working with Children with special needs preferred
- College credit(s) in education, psychology, childcare or related job experience; experience/training with children with special needs.
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Assist students with all ADL needs including, but not limited to, feeding, transferring, lifting, toileting, dressing (coats), feeding and in the maintaining of a clean and organized classroom etc. as per student’s IEPs.
- Ensure needs of students are met including but not limited to their safety and well-being.
- Assist with planning and implementation of lessons for the student.
- Prepare the students to go to therapy, seat the children in the classroom, and position students in various therapeutic equipment.
- Prepare classroom for meal times and supervise students during meal times.
- Assist with preparation of necessary materials for the implementation of lessons for students
- Attend Professional Development programs to enhance knowledge of work environment.
- Escort students to and from buses.
- Assist students in the swimming pool and with all other special events.
- Assist in the evacuation of all students during fire and other emergency drills.
Physical Demands:
- The employee is regularly required to stand and or walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to bend, and push more than 100 lbs. In addition, must be able to lift all students with/without assistance as deemed by the physical therapist.
- Provide hand-over-hand assistance when necessary.
