Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Assistant Director of Planning, Analysis, and Quality in Data Management and Analytics will oversee a team of business/data analysts, communications specialists, training coordinators, project managers, and quality assurance analysts responsible for developing project scope, requirements, plans, milestones, managing project risks, and ensuring delivery of quality products, with effective communication to our user base across the campus. •As a member of the Data Management and Analytics leadership team, this position is responsible for: •Participating in strategic and tactical planning activities to ensure priority initiatives are accomplished in line with established goals and expectations. •Recruit, develop, and retain high performers by inspiring the team through our mission, vision, values, and our commitment to success. •Collaborating with business and data management leaders to ensure project assignments are in line with expectations and goals. •Aligning technical resources with implementation requirements to ensure appropriate staffing levels, skills, and performance. •Providing ongoing management of subordinate staff by facilitating and encouraging employee development and training and conducting regular, thorough, and effective performance evaluation activities, including both recognition and remediation. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Lead, manage, and develop a team to enhance the data and analytics function of the university community. Build relationships across campus and develop a deep understanding of our customer base and the business they do. Participate in the development and elaboration of the Data Management organization’s data products, reporting strategies and tactics, including a wide variety of planning and collaboration activities within and outside of the data management department. Act as a critical contributor in the intake & prioritization process, including appropriate input for new potential projects regarding staffing availability and impact. Responsible for management and oversight of the work within the team, closely partnering with the customers to ensure priorities are addressed appropriately and proper processes and necessary documentation are maintained within. Requirements analysis develop a deep understanding of how our strategy will support and enable our customers to promote the mission of the university. Recruit, develop and retain geographically dispersed and diverse talent collaborating with Data Management leaders to ensure staff are accomplishing assignments in line with expectations and goals. Establish and communicate performance expectations, monitor progress, and provide consistent formal and informal feedback regularly. Resolve staffing issues, conflicts, and performance shortfalls to minimize the impact on departmental schedules and commitments. Inspire the team through a positive and enthusiastic attitude, commitment to success, and personal and professional accountability. Preferred Qualifications Graduate Education. Must be enthusiastic and committed to helping others and exhibit the ability to quickly assess the specific needs of the customer to determine an appropriate course of action. Must be able to quickly defuse stressful or anxious situations. Previous experience demonstrating success leading teams of ten or more direct reports. Experience identifying, hiring, and retaining technical talent. Experience with design, creation, and implementation of custom data centric solutions. Strong influence skills working with internal and external contacts. Effective time management, resource planning and collaboration skills required to complete projects and initiatives. Good judgment and common sense in determining priorities and translating high-level strategies into tactical assignments for subordinate staff. Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours as necessary, as well as sufficient awareness to anticipate and recognize the need to do so. Ability to adjust to abrupt changes in priorities and strategy. Strong professionalism in personal business conduct and communications. Excellent organizational and communication skills both verbal and written. The ability to establish objectives, prepare action plans, and communicate such plans clearly and effectively to all staff levels (management, technical, and clerical). Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related field, plus six years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background with business information systems at a management level preferably in an academic environment. Grade G16 Salary Range $89,300.00 - $157,200.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
