Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary We seek a dynamic person to act as the Program Coordinator and primary student liaison for a large 40-60 person science team (NSF NRT LinQ), involving faculty, graduate students, campus partners, industrial and national lab partners, and connections across St. Louis schools. This role entails helping to coordinate the design and execution of professional development programs, plan recruitment strategies, set up internship opportunities with partners, coordinate professional development skills training, and act as primary author for the NSF annual reports. In addition, through A&S Office of Grad Studies (OGS), there will be a recruiting role for graduate students in A&S STEM-focused areas aligned with NRT LinQ. The role will involve oversight and approval of budget items, ensuring goals of the grant are met, communicating with Trainees and Participants and faculty weekly, and planning events such as meetings and symposia. This position will be partially grant-funded. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Recruitment for NSF Research Traineeship graduate program and A&S OGS programs, at large: Recruitment will involve contacting advisors and faculty from around the country who are likely to identify excellent applicants, distributing informational materials about the program and working specifically to increase the recruitment of students from traditionally under-represented groups. Attend national and regional meetings and approach schools, especially regionally, to recruit for our graduate programs. Recruitment will also involve being sure that student applicants have the necessary information for how to submit their application materials, and guidelines for what to include with their application. Review of applications will also include helping to develop an assessment tool to gauge student background preparation for our program. This will likely be an online survey that students will complete in addition to the normal application materials. Communication with applicants during the application and admission process. Communication with external evaluator team and scheduling internal and external evaluating. Organization, analysis and archiving of evaluation data. Drafting of program evaluation reports and delivering evaluation presentations on program evaluation. Assistance to faculty and graduate coordinators, coordination/facilitation with student activities: Coordinating student activities to include organizing trainee events (new student orientation, annual retreat). Initiate the process for research project selection. Coordinate learning opportunities such as the summer/winter bootcamps, the location and other logistics. Schedule team meetings, ensure timely communication. Program organization, record keeping, report writing, budget management, and other administrative tasks: Organization of files and data. Record keeping of paper and electronic documents. Backup of paper and electronic documents. Tracking program expenditures, encumbrances, including student travel reimbursements, to support the PI’s oversight of the project budget. Travel to Washington DC to engage other NRT programs. Coordinating Internships with External and Campus Partners: Identify and communicate with internship partners from around the area, as well as national lab, commercial lab, and professional service groups. Curate a catalog of internship topics. Coordinate logistics of internship (e.g. transportation, paperwork). Curate internship outcomes. Maintain a communication channel with internship partners. Advertising and communications: Design and production of printed informational materials. Design, production and maintenance of website. Distribution of program materials at state and national level. Travel to selected sites for program advertising, recruitment of trainees. Network with other NRTs. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in natural science or engineering. Two years project management/program coordination experience. Strong time management skills; ability to operate independently and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and accomplish initiatives within deadlines. Strong inter-personal skills, since there is a very high degree of graduate student engagement, and coordination. Proven analytic abilities using problem solving skills to research/resolve inconsistencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required Qualifications Bachelors’ degree with three years related experience or Master’s and one year of related experience. Grade G10 Salary Range $47,300.00 - $78,200.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
