Job Summary: The Test Lab Manager oversees all Test Lab operations as well as the Test Lab personnel. This position ensures the Test Lab has the appropriate people, processes, and tools in-place to serve its many internal and external customers. Developing Test Lab personnel and providing career growth is an essential task of the Test Lab Manager. Creating and maintaining effective and efficient processes is another primary responsibility. The Test Lab Manager also continuously improves the Test Lab by expanding the overall capabilities in line with CPC’s market and customer needs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Test Engineers, Test Technicians, and other lab personnel.
- Create and maintain efficient procedures and work flows for test activities.
- Maintain a high level of customer service for internal and external customers.
- Manage priorities of the lab in accordance with CPC’s business priorities.
- Leverage a culture of continuous improvement to expand and enhance lab capabilities in accordance with CPC’s market and customer needs.
- Document data obtained during all test activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Prepare and present technical and program information to internal customers, management, and external audiences as appropriate.
- Maintain test lab equipment through calibrations and validations, regular PM programs, servicing, and repair.
- Maintain a working knowledge of appropriate industry standards and apply to new test methods and standards.
- Assist others with and perform lab techniques.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, budgets, and schedules.
- Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment in the lab.
- Demonstrate support of CPC core values.
- Perform other job duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Essential Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop Test Engineers, Test Technicians, and other lab personnel.
Required Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical field
- Five-plus years management experience in a testing/lab environment
- Proven personnel management abilities
- Ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally across the business
- Expertise in test method development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, training, and team building abilities
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- ISO13485 and/or ISO9001 quality system experience
- Knowledge of IQ/OQ/PQ validation processes specifically related to Life Sciences markets
- Direct experience working at a medical device manufacturer
- Knowledge of injection molding processes
- Statistics working knowledge (SPC, DOE)
- Customer-facing experience
- Experience with chemical compatibility evaluations
- Working knowledge of polymer science
