Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking an IT Specialist, Plant Applications to join the Information Technology team for the Golden Triangle Polymers (GTP) facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up.


This critical IT support position will be responsible supporting various critical manufacturing software systems, participate in enterprise-wide project implementations, as well as provide after hours on-call rotation duties with other IT team members. This position will report to the GTP IT Manager.


This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will transition to ongoing operations following commissioning and startup with an expected commitment through stable start-up operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support manufacturing plant software systems for various departments within the facility.
  • Support for the lab applications (such as StarLIMS).
  • Work with plant customers to assist with providing solutions to meet specific data requirement needs with significant consideration given to enterprise available implementations.
  • Handle incoming Remedy Help Desk tickets from end users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
  • Diagnose, test and resolve application problems and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved.
  • Document problem resolutions for use in after-hours support.
  • Develop and conduct end user training as necessary for various plant application systems.
  • Perform software application and disaster recovery testing, ensuring business-readiness following failover.
  • Participate as necessary in corporate software development efforts.
  • Assist with Corporate application rollouts.

Skills / Abilities

  • Proven ability to develop and interpret technical documentation for training and end user procedures.
  • Ability to support custom applications and work with application developers to diagnose issues and make necessary changes.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to support and upgrade ASP and ASP.net web pages.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree plus eight years of experience; OR associates degree plus 10 years of experience; OR 12 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Five years equivalent work experience.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of and experience with enterprise infrastructure and desktop applications including, but not limited to:
    • Manufacturing application systems
    • Laboratory management systems
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server to create and maintain SQL databases and create SQL based reports.
  • Familiarity with supporting ang creating Microsoft SharePoint online pages.
  • Familiarity in creating Power BI reports and dashboards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with development and support of power-user application technologies, such as Microsoft Access, Excel, and Power Apps.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Experience using enterprise collaboration tools, including Microsoft SharePoint and Teams. Experience configuring IIS Web Servers for hosting custom and vendor web applications.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud.
