THE PLANNER I AT CPL:
The Planner I position provides a wide range of planning and zoning-related duties. As an entry- level position, a Planner I will be introduced to the planning profession through a variety of tasks designed to inform, instruct, and build the team member’s knowledge base. The Planner I position requires professional planning work of easy difficulty. The Planner I is expected to collaborate on a series of different projects and tasks to learn and understand one or more planning specialties. It is distinguished from the Planning Technician/Intern position because it involves professional-level duties and judgment and fewer routine administrative tasks. Planners at this level receive immediate supervision from Project Managers and Planning Team Leads.
CORE DUTIES:
- Ability to work independently in both the office and the field and be creative, motivated, and dependable
- Ability to work with several client communities at any one time, prioritize effectively and meet key deadlines
- Proficient writing skills (critical and creative) for document development and grant writing
- Excellent oral communication skills and ability to engage with small and large groups with ease
- Strong graphic communication/design abilities.
- Experience with GIS, data management/creation, geographic analysis, and illustrative mapping highly desired
