JOB SUMMARY

• Work cooperatively to develop robust processes and tooling to further the company’s growth in the industrial and aerospace investment casting markets.
• Support key engineering activities for rapid new product introduction, production yields and processes through data acquisition and work instruction documents.
• Identify/define problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to problems that affect yield, rework, and overall quality of the product using a standardized approach (PDCA, Six-Sigma…).
• Travel periodically to tooling vendors to provide problem-solving and technical support.
• Occasionally take a leadership role in resolving cross-functional problems.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Expedite the acquisition of manufacturing information critical to the development of new product.
• Assist in the prompt review of customer drawings, specifications, and related criteria.
• Assist in the initial development of wax assemblies including shell trials, cast parameters and construction techniques and inspection.
• Assist in the development of operations sequences and PEI’s (engineering instructions) for Wax injection, Cut/Clean/Grind, Machining, Gauging, and other dimensional related operations.
• Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, product engineering instructions (PEI) and document control on all Temporary and Permanent PEIs issued to the shop floor.
• Assist Engineering with maintenance of PEI’s, including taking photos for PEI’s, publish and distribute instructions.
• Create, compile and review MRB and submittal paperwork for customer.
• Create, edit, and distribute trial lots for engineers.
• Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods in pre-metal and post metal operations.
• Identify manufacturing requirements and potential variation for scrap reduction.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of dimensional data to identify root cause of development variation.
• Create and provide statistical reports on an as-needed basis to Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Associate degree in math or science-based curriculum or 3-5 years of applicable experience.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in investment casting, quality, tooling design, or CAD experience in Engineering or manufacturing environment. Increasing levels of responsibility. Proven success in process improvements
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of the latest investment casting concepts/techniques. Knowledge and application of statistics. Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles. Basic engineering skills. Skilled in CAD modeling. Basic MS Office skills: Word, Excel. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills (written and verbal), PC skills and program management skills. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills. The ability to record data accurately. Ability to report data accurately. Self-starter. Self-confidence. Detail oriented. Thorough. Availability to work overtime and on Saturdays. Ability to travel periodically to other CPP facilities, customers, and tooling vendors.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Cubicle/Office Setting. May require trips to the shop floor.
• Physical Demands: Sitting/standing for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 20lbs. Extended periods of time using a computer screen. Extended periods of time using a keyboard. Moving and counting raw materials.
• Travel Requirements: 5-10%
• Required PPE: Check for required PPE in areas you may be working in
• Safety Glasses: Needed in all areas of the plant.
• Steel toe shoes: Needed in all areas of the plant.
