Job Description
Cresset is looking for an Accounting Associate to provide accounting support and lead financial projects for our fast-growing business. This position will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain controls, increase transparency for the company’s finances, and create efficiencies.
This role will have direct exposure to senior management and will support all Cresset businesses. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, working comfortably with numbers with a high attention to detail and is a self-starter, willing to own projects and anticipate business needs. The role will report to the Director, Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete weekly/monthly bank reconciliations
- Post monthly closing journal entries
- Prepare monthly financial statement packages
- Accounts Payable – Prepare weekly check runs
- Accounts Receivable – Generate invoices, maintain aging reports and distribute to Senior Management and Advisors bi-weekly
- Reconcile Expensify monthly expense reports and credit card transactions
- Assist in the annual budgeting process – ad hoc requests as well as providing vendor/invoice detail to preparers and reviewers
- Assist in the annual audit and tax preparation – compilation of information to provide preparers
- Perform various financial forecast and ad hoc analysis as needed at an account level
- Document accounting policies, procedures and processes as needed
- Develop and Maintain Finance & Accounting on intranet website
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Accounting; CPA or path to CPA preferred
- Proven experience in the accounting field with 2-4 years of experience
- Understanding and experience in accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and engaged listening
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff throughout the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizations skills with the ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
- Great attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Self-starter looking to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with NetSuite, Bill.com, ADP, Expensify or similar systems a plus
- Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required
