SUMMARY


The Utility Operator position is a member of the Operations Team and reports to the Colt Hub Operations Manager. The COLT Hub aggregates and stores crude oil for outbound deliveries to railcars (unit trains) or via pipelines. The COLT Connector is a bi-directional pipeline that supplies and delivers crude oil, between the COLT Hub, DAPL, Enbridge and Dry Fork Terminal. Crude oil trucking and gathering systems owned and operated by third parties supply the COLT Hub with crude oil directly from the production fields. The Utility Operator provides direct support to the Terminal Operator in meeting daily receipt and shipping schedules. Support includes but not limited to; assistance given to truck drivers with terminal orientation and truck unloading procedures. The Utility Operator assists with making line-ups for oil movements and meter proving. Lab analysis responsibilities are a daily activity required on an expedited basis for timely preparation of rail ticketing and documentation. Month end inventory activity. Training and qualifying for the Terminal Operator position. Month end inventory activity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS will include the following:


  • Issue Work Permits to contractors as required to safely performing field work.
  • Perform lab tests for API Gravity, Sediment & Water, H2S, RVP and Sulfur as prescribed in ASTM Standards.
  • Conduct tank gauging and sampling as per API Standards.
  • Support Terminal Operator as required with manifold valve and tank valve positioning.
  • Operate Bobcat, tractor, snowplow and other motorized equipment in the facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance for day to day tasks
  • Perform housekeeping duties for assigned truck skids and other terminal areas.
  • Complete job assignments as directed by the Terminal Operators in keeping with Daily Shipping Schedules
  • Safe and efficient operations of all ND assets protecting employees, the public, the environment, company assets and customers’ assets.
  • Complete Crestwood annually required Environmental, Safety and Regulatory (ESR) training modules.
  • Complete DOT Operator Qualifications Compliance Testing

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to climb stairs for gauging and sampling of storage tanks.
  • Aptitude for working in a lab environment by performing basic petroleum tests.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts, which include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be able to pass fitness test for respirator.
  • Skills required to safely operate motorized equipment in the field
  • Work flexible hours, work rotating shifts and be available to work overtime hours.
  • Subject to 24/7 call out as required, must be able to respond for off duty call outs within 45 minutes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Independent decision making.
  • Problem solving capability.
  • Analytical skills-metering trends and trouble shooting.
  • Aptitude for basic math skills.
  • Team orientated worker.
  • Attention to detail and ability to make sound and logical decisions.
  • Above average computer skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a regular, full time basis without restrictions.
  • Eighteen years of age or older.

Preferred:
  • Hazwoper certification.
  • Prior industry experience in pipeline or crude storage operations.
  • Prior experience in rail loading operations.
  • Crude safety credentials to include OSHA 30 1, First Aid and CPR.
  • Incipient fire response training.
  • Basic spill response training.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and climb 6 flights of stairs several times daily.
  • Willing and able to work outdoors as required in extreme winter conditions.
  • Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, kneel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Minimally push, lift, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and remain alert during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to work or field locations, and/or to attend meetings or training.
  • Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office.
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels.
