Summary of Job Duties

The Forensic Sciences and Computer Training Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational and administrative activities of designated projects / programs of the Education and Training Center (ETC) to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Criminal Justice Institute are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

This individual plans, coordinates, and evaluates activities of the day-to-day operations of the Forensic Sciences and Computer Training Program, and assists in education and training development, management, delivery, and evaluation.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications :

Education and / or Experience : Other job-related education and / or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Sciences, or related field.

2. At least three years of crime scene or law enforcement experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. At least three years of project management / administration or other relevant experience.

4. Possess experience in the areas of training, education, research, budgeting, and / or project development.

5. Qualify for law enforcement instructor certification from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.

Project / Program Management (25%)

a. The Forensic Sciences and Computer Training Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operational and administrative activities of designated projects / programs of the Education and Training Center (ETC) to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Criminal Justice Institute are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

b. Assists and advises the ETC Assistant Director and Director on the operational, planning, and administrative activities as they relate to forensic sciences and computer education programs.

c. Plans, coordinates, and evaluates activities of the day-to-day operations of designated programs and / or projects.

d. Has responsibility for the administration, budget, scheduling, and operations of designated programs.

e. As assigned, writes, edits, and finalizes reports, special project documents, and other such material.

f. Manages archival file schedule and relocation of outdated files quarterly. Files documents, memos, and other correspondence and compiles and maintains office administrative information and records.

Education and Training Development (20%)

a. Assists the Director in the development of state plans for the delivery of forensic sciences and computer training.

b. Participates in needs analysis studies to determine the forensic sciences and computer training needs of the Arkansas law enforcement community.

c. Develops and delivers curricula, as needed.

d. Recommends the revision of curricula and / or methods of delivery to improve effectiveness if needed.

e. Works with the Director and Associate Director to coordinate the development of the Criminal Justice Institute course schedule.

f. Works with the Director and ETC Assistant Director to recommend course offerings and ensure academic program courses are offered as required.

Education and Training Delivery (20%)

a. Monitors and provides advice or recommendations to the Director on procedures for the evaluation and approval of curricula development, lesson plans, and competency of instructors and provides advice as to the quality and relevance of all instruction for designated programs.

b. Registers students for ETC courses, manages enrollment records, and enters evaluation results into the student database system.

c. Travels to program sites to oversee and assist with the overall set up and delivery of courses statewide and provides logistical support as needed.

d. Coordinates marketing efforts for designated program / project courses to ensure sufficient participation by law enforcement.

e. Ensures certificates and all other administrative and course materials needed for designated project or program course deliveries are prepared and emailed to participants or delivered to each location.

f. Ensures that evaluations and course surveys are disseminated to participants, and participant’s responses are compiled for each class and reported to the Director’s Office.

Reviews results from course evaluations and surveys and contacts participants as needed regarding evaluations.

g. Responsible for ensuring that Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (ACLEST) paperwork is completed for designated programs / projects.

i. Reviews nomination acceptance letters and graduation letters for Distinguished Programs.

Budget : (15%) :

a. Provides guidance to the ETC Assistant Director and the Director on fiscal obligations and provides recommendations for budget development and implementation as it pertains to assigned or designated course administration and delivery.

b. Works with the ETC Assistant Director and Director to prepare an annual fiscal budget to reflect the needs of the Education and Training Center for forensic sciences and computer training.

c. Maintains spreadsheets with costs associated with training sessions and project purchases; provides reports to supervisor monthly.

d. Tracks budget expenditures through each bi-yearly training cycle to know where the department stands fiscally.

Instructor Management (15%)

a. Schedules instructors and assists in the preparation of their contracts and employment agreements according to current CJI policy and procedures.

b. Ensures instructor materials for designated projects and courses are submitted as defined in signed contracts and / or employment agreements.

c. Ensures that appropriate paperwork is completed and approved for all department or project concurrent employees.

d. Notifies instructors of upcoming courses and coordinates the preparation of course materials and supplies for instructor pick-up and / or delivery to the instructor for all scheduled courses for designated programs / projects.

e. Reviews all instructor material before dissemination to participants.

Salary Information :

Low to mid $60,000s depending on experience and education.
