You embrace upstream/top of the funnel communication channels and downstream performance marketing conversion tactics, with Digital at the center of the universe. You possess a deep passion for information technology and strong proficiency building and managing marketing tech stacks, Comfortable working with executives at all levels, you have a strong reputation for nurturing relationships, driving results, and demonstrating connected knowledge and thought leadership. You build consensus and alignment across constituents to move short-term programs forward and advance long-term plans. You’ve been on the agency side and are nimble in a matrixed environment and motivate team members to advance brand and company goals.

Position Overview

The SVP/VP, Digital and Technical will manage our agency’s technical operations and digital tools supporting staff and client work. This senior level role requires both leadership and hands on abilities. The SVP/VP, Digital and Technical will develop, implement, and manage the agency's technical strategy and digital tools used across all departments, building out the technical team over time to support the function’s mandate. This role will include both billable client work as well as technical agency operational support. The SVP/VP, Digital and Technical will be expected to lead and execute digital and technical strategy for client work. This senior level role is involved early in client engagements, serving as a thought partner to clients and internal teams, as well as creating and implementing viable solutions to client problems.

Essential Functions
  • Senior leadership and oversight of the agency’s technical infrastructure and client-facing digital initiatives.
  • Extensive technical expertise in a wide variety of platforms alongside web development, CRM, mobile technologies, UX/UI design, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of advertising, marketing, lead generation, and branding principles, with a focus on digital and interactive channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding results.
  • Development of the technical team’s skills and experience by fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth, providing mentorship, opportunities for development and advocating for professional progression.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and executing successful digital strategies
  • Additional Core responsibilities
  • Provide thought leadership and innovation in omnichannel digital marketing strategies and best practices, aligning with agency teams in Media, Creative, Analytics, Production, and Communications.
  • Support existing client growth and new client acquisition efforts with a focus on digital solutions and omnichannel strategies through collaboration with others on the leadership team.
  • Write and/or contribute to exceptional proposals and SOWs that demonstrate deep appreciation for client-side goals, motivate approvals at multiple levels, while clearly articulating the priorities and work processes for the agency.
  • Leverage and experiment with AI, next generation solutions, and analytics.
  • Build products that are leverageable across our clients and agency ecosystem.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The SVP/VP Digital & Technical will oversee (and grow) a team of digital and technical project managers, developers, and information technology professionals.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the COO.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an advertising and marketing agency or similar environment building and overseeing agency technical infrastructure and client-facing digital projects.
  • Proven experience managing digital infrastructure, agency process and technical teams.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end and back-end development technologies and frameworks.
  • Technical expertise in infrastructure and DevOps with the ability to implement and manage systems, processes, and teams for a wide variety of projects and clients.
  • A deep understanding of version control systems and collaborative development workflows for managing continuous delivery projects.
  • Ability to translate design mockups and wireframes into responsive web interfaces.
  • Solid understanding of web performance optimization techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, digital marketing or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work at our Connecticut office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays is preferred, though we will consider highly qualified “remote-only” candidates who live outside reasonable commuting distance in the Eastern time zone.
  • Willingness/ability to travel intermittently for new business, client management and agency planning.
