Position Title: Manager Sales Engineering (M2)

Position Summary

Responsible for leading a team of Sales Engineers that provide the technical support to the Sales Team.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide the technical expertise to develop custom solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Provide the training and knowledge required to develop the technical competencies of the Sales Engineers and by extension the Sales Team.
  • Support the definition and development of new products based on feedback from the Sales Engineers and customers.
  • Function as the primary technical resource to review and respond to all RFP's that FiberNet receives.
  • Responsible for the Offnet Solutions group that is responsible for researching, negotiating, and ongoing tracking of costs/budgets for all offnet leased services.
  • Provide technical direction to Sales Engineers to develop solutions for customer opportunities Manage workflow in CRM to ensure the team is meeting core metrics for completing designs and cost estimates within set timeframes to ensure timely pricing back to Sales
  • Participate in customer meetings as required to support Sales opportunities
  • Develop technical proposals and presentations for Sales, Sales Engineers, and Customers Provide tactical guidance to the Carrier Access Manager for identifying and implementing processes and programs that ensure success of the Type II program - negotiating competitive rates and identifying solutions to reach offnet areas
  • Support Network Planning with negotiations for leased network connectivity and internet transport services to ensure a single point has focused leverage with suppliers
  • Support the definition and development of new products and services based on feedback from Sales, Sales Engineers, and customers. Includes evaluation, testing, documentation, and training


Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor of Arts Computer Science or Bachelor of Science Engineering
  • Industry certification in IP discipline (CCNA, MEF, Vendor Specific)


Experience/Minimum Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of experience in IP Network Architecture and/or Solutions
  • Eight (8) years of experience in DWM/SONET Architectures and/or Solutions
  • Three (3) years of experience in RFP Proposal Preparation and/or Response Preferred


Other Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated success as a top sales performer consistently exceeding quota
  • Strong desire to learn the telecommunications sales market
  • Must have the ability to prospect, qualify, and close at multiple levels
  • Basic understanding of data/Internet uses and demonstrated ability to sell to business customers
  • Strong computer knowledge: MS Office including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; contact management software experience (Salesforce, Microsoft CRM, Siebel)

Working Conditions:
This role falls into our hybrid work model working in your assigned office approximately 60% of the time (3 days per week) and where you do your best work 40% (2 days per week). There is an expectation of collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter that could require travel.
