Trainer
Summary:
The Trainer is responsible for training and improving the manufacturing productivity of plant employees. The trainer will assess operational production developmental needs to drive training initiatives and is responsible for the effective development, needs assessments/position demands, coordination, presentation, and tracking of training and development programs for manufacturing employees. This position will work closely with HR, operations, safety and operations to develop the training needs, build the curriculum, deliver and track the training.
Main Responsibilities:
This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all the “essential
functions” for purposes of the ADA.
· Support and participate in continuous improvement efforts to include Kaizen, 5S, TPM and other continuous improvement efforts, as required of this position. This includes activities to this specific position/department, as well as company-wide initiatives in other areas of the organization.
· Conducts needs assessments/instructional analysis in developing manufacturing associates training for successful process operations and develop timely training plans as needed. These assessments may include quantitative metrics for successful operations.
· Regularly develops new and improved training programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; works to make necessary changes.
· Instructs employees on how to develop a visual workplace to establish visual controls, identify target outcomes, makes exceptions obvious, and ensures process uniformity amongst all operators. Facilitates operators in the implementation of the visual workplace through to the stage of acceptance by the associates.
· Author and organizes formal and informal training systems either electronic or paper and supporting documentation for training programs and systems in accordance with process operations and certifications requirements.
· Conducts performance-based measurement assessments for uniformly applicable objectively measured evaluations of training programs. This will include preparing reports of metrics for the training program.
· Maintain training records and provide status reports.
· Other assignments as made by management.

- Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results; modify programs as needed; develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media. This includes continually asking why and job or task is important and the outcome of improper execution of any, and all steps in a process.
- Develop trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and development opportunities.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably Adult Education, and a minimum of 3 to 5 year’s experience developing, analyzing, and measuring instructional training programs with a special focus.
- Must possess excellent written, oral and presentation skills. Must also possess working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or any other training system software.
- Sound understanding of a manufacturing environment, preferably working in a floor/plant manufacturing operation.
- Experience in identifying training needs assessments and developing training curriculum.
- Project management skills, structured problem solving and decision-making models.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal direction.

Physical Requirements:
- Exposure to or working in close proximity to operating machinery. Exposure to fine dust. Ability to wear required personal protection equipment (i.e. hearing, eye and foot protection). Must be able to see objects at a distance with clarity and read printed material within arm’s reach. Perceive colors accurately. Ability to shout to be heard above high noise levels. Stand, twist, bend, turn and kneel for up to 8 hours a day. Walk up to 200 yards at a time, up to 20 times per day. Climb stairs, approximately 15 steps, up to 10 times per day.
